IF you know me I love things that sparkle. I love Dorthy Shoes and this is why I came up with an idea that I want to try. My problem is I can come up with the idea but putting it together is another thing. It never turns out the way I want it to. For Christmas I wanted to make a Wizard of Oz Quiet Book. On the front cover I would have the lion, scarecrow, and Tin man's face. Whoever I give the book to I would put their name above it in felt. Then you would open the book with the number 1 in felt. You would see a fuzzy little Toto dog. Number 2 you would see two red ruby slippers with sequences. Number 3- Lolly Pops. Number 4- Dorthy, Tin man, Lion, & Scarecrow strolling down the yellow brick road. Number 5- Maybe have the wicked witch of the west counting her flying monkeys. *Again out of felt.* Number 6- have Glenda with her 6 bubbles coming from her wand. I need some ideas for number 7, 8, 9 and then for 10 I would do munchkins. If anyone can put something like this together and show me what they came up with would be great, or if you have any other ideas let me know! Today I found Dorthy blue and white fabric, shiny metal looking fabric for the tin man, a witches hat, and yarn for the scarecrow hair. By the time you purchase everything it does become expensive so I didn't end up buying it all. This will have to be a project in the future. Just thought I Would share my idea. Here are some pictures of ideas I have found at the store or online. The Lion is a cute quiet book from www.thedixonstory.blogspot.com Awesome job she did!!

This material for Tin Man

make shoes out of felt and hot glue red sequences

I could go on and on... so we will see how it turns out later. Maybe I should have kept it a secret... nah I'm not like that, I will share with everyone my ideas!!

Wedding Season Part 1

Here are some cute ideas. I went over to Make and Takes blog and she found an idea from little birdie secrets to use for a shower. They made this pillow that says "In the mood" on one side and the other can say "In your dreams" or something. IF you want to be more discrete you could say "yes" and "No" like they said on their blog. They also said if you don't like that you could simply put "Mrs. Jones" on one pillow and "Mr. Jones" on the other. You could even do "His" and "Hers". They said you could sew it, use special markers, transfer or whatever else comes in handy. Check out their blog for more ideas!

I have also stumbled across this fun website for couples called Love, Actually !! There is even a link to a thing called "Hoochymail" which is quite funny. You put you and your loved ones name and it makes up a story. Anyways the author of this blog is named Cher and she has amazing ideas!! My favorite one is the "boot Camp"

How cute are these if you are doing a bridal shower?! I found this at wedding ideas
Some things I have done for bridal showers is get a vase of cute flowers and put it in a bigger vase with tons of candy (Depending on the colors of the wedding) If it's pink and red, I would use pink and red candies.

I found that on Martha Stewart a couple years back. Everyone has to guess how many candies are in the vase, whoever is closest wins. I also got some clothing pins at Dollar Tree (They look like little people) so I added some tole and made it a bride. Here is an example of how someone else made them :

IF anyone said the word Bride they had to give up their pin. You could also do famous historical couples in history game where everyone has to guess who their lover was. For instance you say "Cleopatra" and they have to come up with the answer "Mark Anthony"

Lately I am into the monograms. Here are some examples:

7 Things about myself:

1. I teach preschool in my home and I LOVE it!! I figured since I have three little kids and I was going to be teaching them until Kindrgarten that I would start my own preschool.

2. I love history,(I even teach the preschoolers some fun little historic people and are amazed how easy it is for them to rmember) I love books, movies, or talking with anyone who has experienced WWII or 9/11 personlly.

3. I am the third child out of seven. My sister on this blog with me is my older sister *She is also a twin* My husband is sixth out of eight. As you can tell we come from a BIG Family, and I love it. Let's just say there is never a dull moment.

4. I love scary movies. Not the normal slasher, gory kind. I love suspense and grew up on Alfred Hitchcock movies, my favorite being Vertigo. (Love James Stewart)What I love is scarring people, especially my husband, he jumps so hard while watching movies it makes me laugh(If he knew I said that he would kill me LOL)

5. I have a special love for people at nursing homes. I used to work at two of them the summer before I went to college. I loved getting to know the people, their stories, and even the Alzheimer's unit. I used to visit nursing homes as a teenager, and always told myself If I ever became rich I would start a charity for the old and the young. I Would love to do something during Christmas time and deliver things to those in nursing homes. I think it would be fun to get people to dress up as Cinderella and deliver gifts to the children with cancer up at the hospital.

6. I have three beautiful kids that keep me on my toes. I have an addiction of keeping my house clean. Maybe it' because that is the only thing I can control in this world.. my home. Those that were my roommates would be shocked, because I wasn't always like that, even though my mom was. I Guess he older I Get the more I become like her.

7. I dedicate everything to my husband. I met him while in college and thought he would become a great friend who I could rely on. Little did I know he would soon be my husband. He is my best friend, makes me the woman I have always longed to be, and helps me through so much in my life. I love him and realize I must have done something right for God to send me to him, or my husband must have done something wrong to be stuck with my through eternity. JK.

This was hard to chose but here they are:

I just got back from the store and if you are reading this, tonight is the last night of this sale. I combined Savvy Shopper, Grocery Smarts, and the Grocery Guru to find these deals. I went to Albertsons and with my sunday newspaper coupons I was able to buy ten boxes of Kelloggs cereal ( I got the sale where you buy ten items for ten dollars you get five dollars back. I then had a three coupons. One coupon was 1.50 off of one box of frosted flakes. I recieved Three of these boxes for Free) I got 2 boxes of poptarts, 6 hamburger helpers, two cans of vegtables, 2 bottles of Ken's Salad Dressing, 2 bryers ice creams *normally $ 6.37 I got it for .50 cents* had Igone early this week I would have gotten hot dogs for really cheap but they were all out. soWhat do you get for10 boxes Kellogg's cereal2 boxes Kellogg's pop tarts6 boxes hamburger helper2 cans of veggies8 boxes of Kraft mac n cheese2 bottle of Ken's salad dressing2 boxes of bryers ice creamThis would normally cost 94 dollars. I saved $74 dollars in coupons and my final price was $20.52. I pay for three newspapers on Sunday for 12 dollars a month. One shopping Trip far outweighed that. I Then went to Smiths and bought other stuff I needed and still came back saving 12 dollars off the original albertson's price !! More to come in the future...

Lesson today is on Ruth! When I think her and her mother in law, it makes me happy to know I have a good mother in law as well. If I had to leave I would be able to go with her and enjoy my life as Ruth did.

7. Pour the batter evenly into the 2 pans and sprinkle the remaining sugar mixture over the top.
8. Bake for 1 hour.

If you keep a Starter for yourself, you will bake every 10 days. This bread is very good and makes a great gift. Only the Amish know how to create the Starter, so if given one, remember to keep a Starter for yourself.

This summer I decided to turn my preschool room into a scripture story learning center. I did this with my kids before I started teaching preschool. Each day/ week (depending on how I feel) I will teach the kids a scripture story along with some easy crafts/coloring pages.

Today we learned about the 10 commandments. We talked about Moses. Here are some things I used to teach them:
this is a "Men of the Bible" booklet. Each day I let them color the person we are learning about, so at the end they will have a complete little book of all those they have learned. I am going to try to make my own for a "women of the bible" as well.

Teacher's guide to tell story:

http://www.dltk-bible.com/exodus/moses_and_the_10_commands-cv.htm

They also have cute little clip art next to each of the !0 commandment calendar on their website that I copied and pasted into Microsoft word and let them color. We are going to watch "The Prince Of Egypt". We are going to make sugar cookies in the shapes of the Ten Commandment stone.
Something sort of like this, but hopefully it doesn't turn out looking like a grave LOL. Cheesy I know but hey they love it. Tomorrow is Noah and I have already found some cute ideas for that one!! Including an "Animal Cracker Ark" Will share more tomorrow~!

1. Lesson :

2. Craft- You could get popcylce sticks and paste them on this boat to write goals your kids want to acheive. then glue on some animal crackers at the bottom.

3. Cross Word Puzzle and Mini Book:

You could even make a rainbow out of painted hand prints.

FOOD: Rainbow Cookies!

INGREDIENTS (Nutrition)
3/4 cup butter, softened
3 ounces cream cheese
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
assorted colors of paste food coloring
24 lollipop sticks
Add to Recipe Box
My folders:

DIRECTIONS
In a bowl cream butter, cream cheese and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat until smooth.
In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Stir till soft dough forms. Divide dough into fourths. Tint each with a different food color. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Working with half of each color, shape dough into 3/4 inch balls and for each cookie place 1 pink, 1 green, 1 blue and 1 orange ball together to make 1 large ball. Shape into a 12 inch long roll (like a snake), starting at one end, coil roll to make a 2 3/4 inch round cookie. Place cookies 3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Carefully insert lollipop sticks into bottoms of cookies.
Bake cookies for 8 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool and store in an airtight container.

She LOVES Ernie from "Play with me Sesame" I showed you earlier the cute Elmo cupcakes and I now found these cookie monster ones!!! I am going to try to find a cupcake for a different character! For Oscar the grouch you can use dyed green coconut for his fur. OR maybe I will make three round cakes, one of Elmo, one of Cookie monster, and a small one of oscar. Kind of like this *but round*
